When the High Energy Fades…
Hello loves,
This has been an interesting week already and if you’re feeling low, discouraged, or disheartened because the energy of the work that you started last week seems to have paused or slowed down, you are not alone.
Not only are you not alone, I am here to tell you that this is the natural cycle of how this type of work works.
I have experienced so many similar retreat highs and subsequent lows in my life. That feeling after a weekend away where you had an amazing experience, but you come back to a dip. Also interestingly, I have found that the bigger the expansion, the bigger the dip.
So, I want you to know that this is normal. There is nothing wrong with you. This doesn’t undo any of the work you did last week. And actually, I think you may find that this is the phase of the process for receiving.
Last week, you did the powerful work of reclaiming, you cleared clutter, you opened up to flow, you set intentions. And now is the moment where you get to pause, restore your energies intentionally, in order to receive.
This energy of receiving is so, so important. If you don’t pause to receive, you miss out on the biggest gift of this process, which is designed to open up to flow that nourishes you.
Here’s the thing: even though I have experienced this high/low rhythm many times, I found myself a little worried at first (do you find that you often forget something you have learned so many times before??).
On Saturday morning, I found that I wanted to stay in bed late and much of the day...Sunday on the beach, I just wanted to take a long nap...Monday woke up and had a rough conversation….Tuesday, I wanted to write to you and just needed to lie down and rest. Uh oh! The voices started up…’who are you to think that you can create something new that is successful. You always give up. Look at the blog you started 10 years ago.’
The power is in what happened next.
I remembered.
I remembered! And so I am here to remind you….
First: Awareness. Just notice! This is the moment of shining a light on the shaming energy that weasels its way in time and time again. Pause. Remind yourself that we don’t shame ourselves here. Instead, notice, listen, and tune in to what you need in the moment.
The idea is to keep from sinking deeper or getting drowned in the low by gently nourishing yourself, mind, body, and soul. Look back at how far you have come. Celebrate. This practice may be new, so be patient with yourself as you are learning how to care for yourself with more tenderness than ever before.
Then: Mindfully shift into the energy of receiving, staying open to what is yours to receive right now. Look back at the intention you set for yourself and get ready to receive it, or something even better.
For me, this looked like a sum of money that I had been working to transfer out of an investment account for the past couple weeks finally landing in my bank account last night. Then I received an email alert for the next steps on an application that I submitted 7 or 8 weeks ago. This application had been stuck at ‘pending’ until 6:45am this morning.
If you were watching last week, you might remember that I shared this wisdom from my morning cup of tea: ‘What belongs to you shall come to you’. Well this week, my Monday morning Yogi tea inspirational quote was ‘Let things come to you.’
Allow. Receive. Be in that energy. The energy of knowing that you have already done the work and that receiving is an equally active process of getting the blocks out of the way, quieting the voices that tell you that you’re doing something wrong, and allowing your deep Knowing to guide you into restoration, into lying down, into being still, into pausing. Knowing that you will always get back up and continue gently onward.
Caveat: There are times when a big deep sadness can be overwhelming. That is not what I am talking about here. If you feel like you are drowning in the ebb. If there is a deep sadness that is keeping you down, that is something different. That is the time to reach out for support. That is not something you need to navigate on your own.
What I AM talking about is trusting that a few days, even a week of taking more time to be still and to pause is vital to the process that you are working through here.
I love you all so much. I am honored to be your guide on this journey of yours. I can’t wait to share in all that comes next.
Much love,
Tam
